Steps has been providing unique
and exciting walking holidays in
southern Spain for over 10
years. The holidays are suitable for people
travelling alone, couples and groups of friends.
Guests do not have to be super-fit but are likely
to be regular walkers or fit from other
activities. Each holiday is of seven
night duration and some can be combined
to create two week breaks. The
holidays are the result of years of personal
experience walking in the Parques Natural
of Andalucia. All are high in content and
value, with
most guests coming by way of recommendation or
repeat visits. The main ingredients for
all our walking holidays are: - |
- Accommodation
with character, either in our beautifully
restored village house in Cómpeta or in
delightful Rural hotels.
- Excellent
food and wine with all meals
taken at a variety of good local
restaurants.
- Transfers
to and from airports, to trail
heads and between locations on
multi-centre holidays.
|
- Exceptional
daily walks of around 5 - 6 hours led by Spanish
speaking resident British guides.
- Small
groups, normally with eight to
fourteen guests.
- Unique,
carefully prepared holidays with great
variety and an informative insight into
the best of Andalucia.

through Moorish Spain, and the chance to visit Africa.
The Journey - by foot, rail, road and sea -
includes walks through four of Andalucias
most beautiful Parques Naturales. The
itinerary takes in the historic towns of Granada,
Antequera, Ronda,
Tarifa and an optional trip to Tangier.
After
the first night in Cómpeta we

Granada with an overnight stop at the lake side
hotel El Cruce. The next two nights are
spent in Antequera and the final three nights
within the old walled town of Tarifa, the most
southerly point in Europe.

Two Continents
This
exciting 8-day walking holiday includes the Pillars
of Hercules walks in Spain and Morocco. The
first three nights are in Tarifa,
with walks in the Alcornocales Parque
Natural, high above the Straihts of
Gibraltar. We then take the fast
ferry to Tangier and on to Chefchaouen,
in our view, the prettiest and most magical town
in Morocco. We stay for three nights, with two
days walking in the Rif mountains. On
Day 7 we return to the coast, and walk from a
sandy beach up to the high ridges of Jebel
Musa with spectacular views across
to Europe. Our last night night is spent back in
Spain at our hotel in the walls of old Tarifa.

Route of the Pueblos
Blancos (White Villages)
This
multi-centre holiday provides the opportunity to
stay in some delightful and less well known '
White Villages ' of Andalucia with great guided
walks in two different Parques Natural.
The holiday starts with two nights in Tolox
in the heart of the Sierra de las Nieves,
the mountain range between Malaga and Ronda. We
then move on to Montejaque,
perched on the eastern side of the Sierra de
Grazalema, the range between Ronda and
Jerez. For the final two nights we stay in the
village of Grazalema in the
heart of the Parque.

High Peaks
Two or three times a year, we run
our Cómpeta based holiday with
a program of more strenuous walks. This holiday
was designed for guests wishing to explore the
higher paths of our local sierras.
The walks are no longer than 7 hours, but involve
more climbing than our regular holdays. We avoid
dangerous paths, and the maximum ascent on the
most difficult day is around 1,300 metres.
Weather permitting, the program is likely to
include the summits of La Maroma (2,068m)
El Lucero (1,735m) and lower level
ridges.
